Tesfaye Semela is a Professor at the School of Education and Training (SoET) and Director of the Center for Policy and Development Research (CPDR) at Hawassa University. He received his PhD in Educational Psychology and Sociology of Education from University of Tübingen, Germany, in 2003. Prof. Tesfaye is a recipient of the senior research fellowship award of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (Germany) from 2009-2012. His research interest focuses mainly on educational policy analysis, teacher education, gender and educational development, academic self-concept development and mathematics and science learning. He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals such as Cambridge Journal of Education, Higher Education Policy, Journal of Developing Societies, and International Journal of Educational Development. He has also authored several book chapters and case studies, and edited three research-based books.
